Miracles in the Bible

When things are beyond our control, we rely on miracles to happen. We hope that something above our powers, something supernatural will happen. Miracles are part of life, if you believe in them. The Bible talks about several miracles before Christ and during Christ’s time.

The first miracle is the creation of the heavens and the earth, the animals, plants, the oceans, man and woman. In Genesis 1 & 2, we can find answers to how we are created and how the universe is created.

We have heard of Noah and his ark. This was the second large miracle, where Noah and the animals in his ark were able to survive a hundred and fifty day’s flood (Genesis 7 & 8).

In Genesis, we have other miracles worth mentioning such as the prevention of men building Babel city through the confusion of the language between them (Genesis 6-11), and the distraction of Sodom and Gomorrah and the protection of Lot (Genesis 19).

The birth of Isaac is a miracle that gives hope to many couples in the world who are not able to have children according to the doctor. This can be their miracle if they have faith and believe in the Lord.

As we read through the New Testament, we are amazed at numerous miracles that Jesus performed on many people. He restored the sight and hearing to many people in Matthew 9:27-31, Matthew 12:22, Matthew 20:29, Mark 7:31-37, Mark 8:22-26, John 9:1-7 and Luke 18:35.

Jesus walking on water, providing food for people, healing them from diseases, his transfiguration and his resurrection are other impressive miracles found in the Bible that show how amazing and powerful God is.
