Miracles in Health

In one story of a health-related miracle, a new mother suddenly began suffering migraine headaches after the birth of her first child. The headaches became debilitating, with only rest in a dark room offering comfort. The young mother began searching for treatments that might help the migraines and learned that doctors found tiny holes in hearts of individuals who suffered from migraines. These holes should close before or after birth. A hole was discovered in her heart so she volunteered to be the first patient of cardiologist Dr. John F. Rhodes Jr. MD of Duke University. A metal patch was placed over the hole and heart tissue soon spread over the patch. Results of this type of surgery have proved to reduce her migraines significantly.

In another story, doctors told a housewife she would be quadriplegic and be in a wheelchair the rest of her life, following a truck accident. Refusing to accept this, she agreed to go to the Shepherd Center, a catastrophic-care hospital. An experimental treadmill therapy program called NeuroRecovery Network, funded by Christopher Reeve Foundation and CEC, became available to her. After forty days of being suspended in a harness from the ceiling and grueling attempts to walk and stand, she no longer needs her wheelchair.

In one last story, the son of a chiropractor picked up a firecracker to throw it in the lake when it exploded in his face and blinded him. The doctor rushed to his son, threw him in the lake and later covered his face with ice and water from a cooler. While still on the gurney, the son asked his chiropractor father to adjust him. The father found the subluxation, corrected it and continued this procedure day and night during his son's recovery. Within three days, the son began noticing colors, shadows, and asked to watch television. Beautiful new skin appeared and no more surgery was needed.
