The definition of a miracle is an event that appears by the laws of nature and so if held to be supernatural or an act of God. This meaning truly fits the story of Amillia Taylor, a premature baby girl fighting for her life. Parents Sonja and Eddie Taylor, from Homestead Florida, were desperately hoping to have children. When they found out this was impossible by natural causes, they turned to IVF, fertility treatments in hopes of concieving a child.
On June 12, 2006 they got the news they had always been awaiting. A positive pregnancy test had finally answered their prayers, granting them a child due March 4, 2007. This pregnancy, while simply an answer from God, was difficult. Sonja had many complications early on, leading up to the day of delivery. With severe abdominal pains, Sonja and Eddie finally went to the hospital. The doctors had realized she was going into premature labor at an astonishing 21 weeks and six days. Legal abortion is 24 weeks gestation, so Sonja was extremely feared for the life of her child.
This information made Sonja lie. She lied to fight for what she believed in, her baby girl. Sonja informed doctors she was 23 weeks and 6 days, so they performed a Cesarean section. Amillia Taylor, meaning "fighter" in Latin, was born October 24, 2006. She was 21 weeks old weighing 10 ounces and measuring 9.5 inches long.
Amillia spent four long months in Miami, Florida's Baptist Children Hospital. Sonja and Eddie were always there by her side, knowing she was going to pull through. Knowing legally doctors can abort life at 24 weeks and Amillia survived at 21 weeks is the absolute definition of a miracle.
