Miracles in the Bible

Wikipedia defines a miracle as “a perceptible interruption of the laws of nature, such that can be explained by divine intervention.” Many, many miracles occurred in Biblical times, and are recorded in both the Old and New Testaments. In the New Testament, many miracles in the Gospels and in Acts were performed by Jesus and his disciples. These miracles are truly amazing, especially the raising of Lazarus from the dead. However, many people are not familiar with the miracles of the Old Testament. Some of the most amazing miracles were performed by Elisha, who was a prophet of God.

You can, in these tough economic times, relate to one of the miracles Elisha performed. In I Kings chapter 17, the Bible tells the story of a poor widow who used her last bit of corn meal and oil to make some bread for Elisha. Because she was willing to give her last to the service of God, her meal barrel and oil jug never ran dry. She shared her bounty with her neighbors because Israel was going through a famine at the time. Because she shared, she and her neighbors always had enough to eat.

This miracle shows that you should not refuse to share what you have with those in need. Even though many people in the country have lost their jobs and have had to cut back, if they share what little they have, God will bless them and make sure that they have enough for their needs.
